Palmer had a distinguished and lengthy career exhibiting beginning in 1905 with the Ontario Society of Artists. He was made an Associate of the Royal Canadian Academy in 1915 and an Academician some 20 years later. Throughout his career, he was a regular contributor to the exhibitions at the Canadian National Exhibition, Ontario Society of Artists and Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts.
He is represented in numerous museums including the collections of Canada’s National Gallery, Hart House at the University of Toronto, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Government of Ontario Art Collection.
