Albert Franck was arguably Toronto's most important urban painter. His depictions of Toronto are of great historical value. They provide accurate and powerful interpretations of its less affluent or traditional neighbourhoods during a post-War period of economic and social change.
Here Franck has depicted the Allan Gardens in downtown Toronto, as it appeared at the time. Bordered by Gerrard, Carlton, Sherbourne and Jarvis, this centrally located park today contains a horticultural conservatory, playground off-leash dog run and a number of paths.3sur 3
