This is a vignette of the kids sitting on the bench catching their breath in anticipation of the next shift. In my opinion, characteristic of the best of Bruno Bobak, he paints a gritty composition, avoiding what other and inferior artists might have chosen to paint as cute. Although a “late” period Bruno Bobak it reminds me of some of the equally expressive compositions he was painting 50 years earlier and premature for an accepting Canadian art collecting audience.
