Private collection, Toronto. Our drawing demonstrates Bouchard’s important level of accomplishment as a draughtsman. Lorne Bouchard was an outstanding artist and one who exhibited successfully at our original family art gallery, Walter Klinkhoff Gallery, for 20 years. Originally, his artistic influence was Clarence Gagnon, who did respond to Lorne with encouragement in his earliest years. The subject matter here is of a historic village, Chateau Richer, which has its roots going back 350 years. It is located east of Quebec City along the St Lawrence River, today perhaps 40 minutes by car from Gagnon’s Baie St Paul. This region beyond Quebec City was among Lorne’s favourite painting places.24of 24
