Private Collection, Montreal.Jeanne Rhéaume was a highly talented and versatile artist who lived a large part of her mature career overseas, primarily in Italy. She was a student at Montreal’s École des beaux-arts and The Art Association of Montreal where she studied with Goodridge Roberts and Lilias Newton. She was accomplished painting in both oil and watercolour, and wove tapestries of great quality. Along with Alfred Pellan, Jeanne Rhéaume was a signatory to the ‘Prisme d’Yeux’ manifesto. Although living overseas, she exhibited regularly back in Canada, primarily in Montreal where at various times in her career she showed at West End Gallery, Dominion Gallery and Walter Klinkhoff Gallery.
Her works are in the collections of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, the National Gallery of Canada and the Vancouver Art Gallery.
