John Little was positioned at St. Urbain Street looking west along de la Gauchetière Street through what was in the day Montreal’s animated Chinatown. The Chinese Church is at the foot of the street with the Bell Canada Building beyond at Beaver Hall Hill and Belmont. Subsequent to the painting of this work, what the demolition for the #720 expressway didn’t destroy in terms of this formerly vibrant cultural community, the building of Montreal’s convention centre did.
