Une Journée de Mars, Rue Beaudry au coin de Rue Lagauchetiere, 1960 is a most handsome work painted in terms of Little’s post-impressionist influenced style. The artist pursued this manner of painting for another 6 or 7 years until one notes the onset of a research for a different way to express himself in paint.

This is among John Little’s most significant paintings. It is drawn at a location that makes outstanding composition while allowing him to capture what for him is an important part of the city that was being sacrificed, that is demolished, in the name of urban renewal. For him, the attraction to the composition and the urgency of capturing it on canvas before it was to be bulldozed, Little returned to his studies of the cross section, re composing and expanding on the ideas. Notable is a colour palette that is defined by this limited and popular vintage of his painting career.
