This being a blue collar area, it was vulnerable to the designs of city planners. This precise location was soon to be entirely raised and is in fact in the centre of the acres of parking lot on the east side of the Radio Canada Building. Fully four decades after 5000 Montreal residents were relocated for building and parking lots, Radio Canada is itself moving over to a new building on one side of the lot, occupying a size one third of its present footprint. In the development plan is a reduction of parking spots from the existing 650 spaces to 250 and a large number for cyclists.
