Eric Riordon served briefly on the HMCS Fundy, part of that Halifax Force around the time Reg “Cowboy” Jackson CO of the Kenogami. In June 1940, Riordon joined the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve. In May 1941, Riordon was listed by the Department of National Defense as part of the Montreal division of the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve, located on 1464 Mountain Street. Riordon served as a Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve during WW2 on anti-submarine, minesweeping, and convoy duty. He was the second-in-command of an RCNavy corvette on the East Coast. Riordon was listed as RCNVR Lieutenant of HMCS Fundy as of 4 November 1941. [1]
Beginning in May of 1950 and until October of 1952 an exhibition of 34 small convoy paintings by the late LCdr Eric Riordon, RCNVR, “North Atlantic Convoy” : toured Canada from coast to coast. This exhibition was a posthumous exhibition and tour arranged through Eaton’s Ogilvy’s, the Riordon family and Continental Galleries , the gallery where Riordon exhibited. [2]
