The sport of hockey has affected innumerable athletes, fans, families and communities around the world.  Inspired by our own histories as fine art dealers and amateur hockey players, Alan Klinkhoff Gallery will host a non-selling exhibition of fine Canadian paintings featuring hockey, a celebration concurrent with the 2016 World Cup of Hockey in Toronto, and the 100th season of the National Hockey League.

Fine Art & Hockey: A Point of View, will premiere on September 15, 2016 at our gallery in Toronto, as the city prepares to host to the 2016 World Cup of Hockey and just before the centennial season of the storied Toronto Maple Leafs.

The exhibition will then travel to our Montreal gallery from October 15-29, at the beginning of the 100th season of the National Hockey League and the 107th season of the Montreal Canadiens, hockey's oldest and most decorated franchise.

The paintings will be on loan from private and institutional collections.  The exhibition will feature important works by Philip Surrey, Frederick B. Taylor, John LittleWilliam KurelekMolly Lamb Bobak, Claude A. Simard, Bruno Bobak, Henri Masson, Tom Forrestall, William Winter and Normand Hudon, to name a selection.

This non-selling exhibition continues a Klinkhoff family tradition of over 40 years.  Since our first non-selling retrospective for Maurice Cullen in 1974, our family has hosted over 40 non-selling exhibitions with the intention of shedding light on artists and groups that, in our opinion, merited greater attention. A selection of artists featured in past exhibitions includes William Raphael, A.Y. Jackson, Albert Robinson, Arthur Lismer, Marc-Aurele Fortin, Robert Pilot, Prudence Heward, Kathleen Morris and other members of the Group of Seven and Beaver Hall Group.

We look forward to an exciting and informative cultural display and encourage both art and hockey aficionados to attend.
