Born in Rimouski in 1929, Louis Belzile is a painter and sculptor of the Plasticien movement of Quebec. From 19481952, Belzile was educated at the Ontario College of Art and Design (now OCAD) in Toronto. In 1953 and 1954, he took lessons at the André Lothe workshop in Paris. In 1958, Belzile obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Montreal. In 1960-1961, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Montreal. In February, 1955 he was a signatory of the Manisfeste des plasticiens.

 

Belzile’s works are found in many public and private collections. His paintings are exhibited in major museums in Quebec and Canada.
